Amber
house was designed with the autistic population and
their unique problems in mind. Many autistics have
problems with artificial light, sounds and
textures. They have sleep disorders,communication
and social problems. It is estimated that 20% or
more will always be children living in adult
bodies. These conditions have all been considered
in the planning of Amber House.
Because of their special needs, we offer individual apartments, a place to call "my own". Each apartment will be 600 square feet with a fully usable kitchen/living room combination, a large bedroom, bath and walk-in closet. Although, they were designed for one, each is legally large enough for two people. All are handicapped accessible. Each apartment will be furnished by the occupant so that they can meet any physical needs concerning textures and colors.
Many people, when they they get older, are moved from their home to another. This can be very confusing for the elderly, but for the handicapped it can be traumatic. For this reason we plan for their apartment in Amber House to be theirs for as long as they live.
Now, we are soliciting financial help. We designed this building to provide quality living, a place where people enjoy life, where they can keep busy, make new friends and be a part of society - we want a better life for our loved ones.
